1st, Intro to Art-
This week you will be starting on your black square assignment. This project will be due on Friday at the beginning of class. ***Please remember you will need a sketchbook dedicated to this class, in the classroom, on FRIDAY 1/18. We will be using these sketchbooks so it is important you have them here and ready that day. 2nd, AP 2D, You have an unconventional self portrait due on Friday at the beginning of class. Please be on the lookout for a comprehensive schedule of assignments due through the portfolio submission date (May). I should have this schedule finalized by next week. Sculpture 4, you should be working on your own independant assignment. Due date is TBD 3rd, AP 2D, You have an unconventional self portrait due on Friday at the beginning of class. Your first assignment will be to throw two matching 7" tall cylinders. It sounds easy enough, but do not wait to complete this assignment as throwing on the wheel takes time to learn. Ceramics 4, for the remainder of the week you will be doing demos and helping Ceramics 2 start throwing. On Tuesday you will receive your first assignment. ***to all ceramics students, it is your responsibility to keep the sinks and the general ceramics area clean and usable for other students. AP 3D, see above. 5th, Digital Design Projects, This week you will be starting on Photoshop basics and beginning a build your own hamburger project. Good morning and welcome back after a 3 day weekend! I hope you all had a chance to relax and enjoy some end of the summer fun!
Intro to Art- Monday you will be watching the Chuck Close documentary before we continue with the Inspired grid portrait. If you did not take a photo over the weekend you need to do it Monday and have it ready to go to the computer lab on Tuesday. After the photos are Photoshopped and printed we will start with the grid process. AP 2D and AP 3D- You all have a piece due this Friday, September 7. If you are working on a larger scale piece (AP 3D) you need to show progress an have sketchbook notes. Sculpture 1- You should be finishing your bridge this week. If not, I will be checking your progress. Sculpture 3 and Ceramics 3- You have a piece due based on your artist this Friday, September 7. Ceramics 1- You will be finishing the PowerPoint presentations this week. After presentations are finished you will start on glazing your tile and mini pinch pots. Have a great week!! Intro to Art (1st and 6th)- This week we are starting on a Chuck Close inspired self portrait. We will be watching an interview with Chuck Close and then starting on the assignment. Sketchbook assignment that were started last week (Sketchbook #2) is part of this project. You should finish the sketchbook before starting on the project. Sculpture 1- You should be working on your toothpick/craft stick sculptural bridge. The due date has not been assigned, but it looks like this will be due next week. Exact day TBD. Sculpture 3- You should have your first independent project completed by next Friday, September 7. If you finish early, you can start brainstorming where your next work will go. Be sure to have your completed artist profile to turn in with your assignment next Friday for the due date too! Ceramics 1- This week we will be going through the group PowerPoint presentations. We should wrap these up be this Thursday (8/30), but if not we will continue when we cam back Tuesday, 9/4. My name is Donna Jones and I am "mainly" the 3D art teacher here! This is my 4th year here so I am calling this my senior year! I am looking forward to a great year and an opportunity to get to know all of the new faces in all of my classes. You can use this Blog to find out what is happening week by week as I will post over the weekend or on Monday morning! All classes- all week, we will be doing introductions to your particular class. We will go over the rules for my classes. The syllabus can be found on this website under each course. We will do a few smaller projects throughout this week, but we will wait until next week to start digging into our first longer assignments. I hope everyone had a wonderful summer and I hope you are all ready to work! I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing spring break! I know this is an exciting time of year, but we still have a lot to accomplish before the end of May! Digital Design- You should be working on the the next assignment in your packet. You should have all the assignments from the packet turned in through the Chattahoochee High School poster by this Friday. This will leave you with 9 more assignments due by the end of the year. We will also have a final that will be in addition to the assignments in the packet. Make sure you are turning in a PSD file in addition to a JPEG file of all of you work. It is your responsibility to make sure you have put the correct work into your named folder for grading purposes. Ceramics 4- Your 5 piece place setting was due the Thursday before spring break. If it was not turned in prior to spring break, it is now late. This due date had been announced for the past 8 weeks and it was your responsibility to turn the work in if you were out Thursday and Friday before spring break. This week you should be finishing your box that was due for a bisque fire before spring break. A final box is due 4/30. Your next assignment is your choice, but you will need to submit an assignment write-up and schedule of what you will complete by the end of the semester. Consider your time when you are planning the assignment and don't forget to account for both firings. AP 2D-You will be continuing to work on your portfolio. Before spring break you should have uploaded all of your "range of Approach" (breadth) section to your portfolio and 3 images to your "sustained investigation" of the portfolio. I will be looking for quality photographs of your work and size/media in the listing. By the end of April you should have all of your work completed and uploaded to the AP portfolio website. You may change out a work after this due date, but it should be completed by 4/30. You will also need to select which works you will send to AP for the quality portion of the portfolio. Wednesday, April 11 from 4:00-6:00 PM is the AP 2D/3D capstone/portfolio show. You may start setting up Monday and Tuesday during class time. It is your responsibility to plan, as a group, all aspects of this shoe to include (but not limited to); invitations, flyers, food, announcements, etc. Sculpture 2- Each of you are working on your independent sculpture projects. On Friday will will have 1-on-1 conferences to see where your work is headed. We can talk earlier if you need specific guidance, but Friday will give me an opportunity to assess where you are. AP 3D- You will be working on your portfolio you should have all of your pieces completed by 4/30 and uploaded to the AP website. Each piece should be measured for Height, Width and Depth. You should also list the material/media used in each piece. You may end up changing out work before the final submission date, but your current work is due. Wednesday, April 11 from 4:00-6:00 PM is the AP 2D and 3D capstone/portfolio show. You may start setting up Monday and Tuesday during class time. It is your responsibility to plan, as a group, all aspects of this shoe to include (but not limited to); invitations, flyers, food, announcements, etc. Ceramics 2- You should be working on your 3 pc. place setting and 3 sculptural hand build spoons. All of the pieces are due for a bisque fire on Thursday 3/29. As you will remember, three pieces were due before spring break. All 6 pieces should be completed (all firing done) by 4/30. It is your responsibility to make sure you have put the correct work into your named folder for grading purposes. Ceramics 4- You should all be working on your 5 piece place setting(that is cohesive/matching) that will be due the Thursday before spring break (March 29). Please note that this set will need to be completed both a bisque and a glaze fire. You have had plenty of notice regarding this assignment and it is due Thursday, 3/29 with no exceptions. If you are going to be out for an entire week before spring break it is your responsibility to turn the project in before you will be out! You also have a box ready for bisque by March 29. There will be a glaze fire this week and a bisque fire next week if there is enough work to run a fire. ****You need to make sure you have your 5 piece set done in enough time to bisque and glaze fire! AP 2D- You will be working on your portfolio. March 23 is the next major dues date. You will need to have the rest of your Range of Approach section filled in your AP portfolio as well as a minimum of 3 pieces added to the Sustained Investigation section (note that any of these photos can change before submission). March 23 is also the due date of two more pieces and these should be related to your sustained investigation. Also, we have the upcoming AP capstone 1 and 2 show that will take place March 28 and April 11. Sign up on the white board in my room. You will also need to upload 3 pieces to your Sustained Investigation portfolio. Also, we have the upcoming AP capstone 1, 2 and 3 show that will take place March 19, March 28 and April 11. It is recommended that all AP 3D students sign up for the April 11th show as this will give you more time to complete more work. March 28 is mainly reserved for AP Drawing.
