Welcome to the 2019-20 school year! I hope you had a wonderful summer and, like myself, are ready to get back to the work. There are so many great opportunities happening this year for art students and we are looking forward to sharing all of those with you.
Just a friendly reminder that every art student needs to have a sketchbook for class. It is fine if it is a sketchbook shared with other art classes, but I would prefer it not be shared with any classes outside of the art department. This blog will be used to communicate weekly assignments. I try to post every week, but sometimes I just forget. If you cannot find what you are looking for here, please feel free to email me [email protected] Have a super week! AP students!
I am looking forward to seeing you again in just a few days. Hopefully you have been working on the AP summer homework that is due Monday 8/12! If you need a refresher of what you are suppose to be working on please see below. AP2D and AP3D Summer 2019 assignment You will be building/constructing your idea of a 10-page completed sketchbook (if you are in AP3D, your design should take the overall form into consideration). All AP students should be prepared to think beyond drawing in a standard sketchbook. Due date: 1st day of class, August 12, 2019. No exceptions. This will be a graded assignment. Some questions to consider. Does your sketchbook reflect who you are and what you are thinking about? Does your sketchbook include experimentation? Does your sketchbook reflect a cohesive body of experimental work? 1. You will need to research different types of sketchbook and sketchbook construction. A few considerations for this assignment are; -paper type (if you are using paper) -joinery/connections for binding the “books” -typical drawing mediums (pencil, pen, markers, etc.) -atypical drawing or sculpting media (string, yarn, wire, etc). 2. You should plan out your sketchbook with drawings or by creating a mini maquette. 3. Why? You should also know why you are making a sketchbook. Is there a question you are answering or a topic you are exploring? 4. You will need to write a double space, one page, 12-pt font paper explaining your choices, decision, experimentation and/or process for this assignment. The requirements for the 2020 AP portfolio have changed. Process and critical reflection are now significant contributors for portfolio scoring. The 2019-2020 school year will be full of both. Have a super summer and make some incredible work! |
